As we continue to enhance our services and provide better performance for our clients, we are excited to announce a significant upgrade. On the 31st of July, some of our services will be migrated from container-based virtual private servers (VPS) to Kernel-based Virtual Machines (KVM).
This migration is designed to improve performance, scalability, and security. While we will do our best to run these updates with no disruption, there may be some downtime. Here’s what you need to know about this transition and its benefits.
Migrating to KVM offers several advantages over traditional container-based solutions:
Better Performance and Scalability: KVM provides a more efficient way to utilise hardware resources, allowing for better performance and greater scalability. This means your applications will run faster and can handle increased load more effectively.
Improved Resource Allocation and Management: KVM allows for more precise allocation and management of resources, ensuring that each virtual machine gets the resources it needs without interference from other VMs.
Faster Disaster Recovery: With KVM, disaster recovery is significantly faster. Each virtual machine can be backed up and restored independently, reducing downtime in case of failures.
Stronger Isolation: Each KVM virtual machine operates independently, providing stronger isolation between environments. This means that issues in one VM will not affect others, enhancing the stability of your services.
Enhanced Security Features: KVM comes with advanced security features to protect your data and applications, providing peace of mind that your information is secure.
If you have any questions or concerns about this migration, please do not hesitate to contact us. Tidy Design is here to help and support all our clients.
The good news is that you don’t need to do anything for this migration. Our VPS provider will handle the entire process automatically, ensuring a seamless transition from container-based VPS to KVM.
Because of the many factors that can affect a migration (for example, disk usage, installed applications, or operating systems), we are unable to provide an exact estimate of downtime. However, we are committed to minimising any potential disruptions and will do our best to keep downtime as low as possible.
We want to extend our sincere thanks to all our clients for their continued support and understanding as we undertake this important upgrade. We are confident that this migration will bring significant improvements to our services.
Have a great week, and many thanks
Mike
